2 Peter 1:3-4

His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence, by which he has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire.

What does it say?

We have escaped from the corruption in the world due to sinful desire and have knowledge of the God that called us to His own glory and excellence because He has graced us with His divine power and His precious and very great promises, through which we are able to become partakers of His divine nature.

What is the context?

Peter’s second letter, like his first, still encourages the faithful to remain so while focusing on the peril of false teaching. In this opening of his second letter, Peter goes on to list several qualities (virtue, knowledge, self-control, steadfastness, godliness, brotherly affection, and love) that they should make “every effort” to add to their faith. In fact, they must be added and “increasing” (vs 8). “For whoever lacks these qualities is so nearsighted that he is blind, having forgotten that he was cleansed from his former sins.” (vs 9)
