Matthew 18:19-20
What is written? (ESV)
Again I say to you, if two of you agree on earth about anything they ask, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.
What does it say?
I'll [Jesus] tell you [disciples] again that if two of you who are on earth are in agreement with whatever they ask, it will be done for them by My Father who is in heaven. Wherever two or three are gathered in My name, I am there with them.
What is its immediate context?
Jesus is instructing the disciples (vs 1) about various things including the need to “become like children” (vs 4), overcoming inevitable temptations (vss 7-9), the value of a single believer who falls away (vss 10-14), and correcting a brother in sin (vss 15-20).
How Matthew 18:19-20 is applied across Bible answers
Does it matter where we worship God?
There is a time for purposeful, corporate worship ("gathered in Jesus' name") and in that time Jesus (aka God, Holy Spirit) is in their presence.
Where is the dwelling of God the Father?
