1 Corinthians 7:39
What is written? (ESV)
A wife is bound to her husband as long as he lives. But if her husband dies, she is free to be married to whom she wishes, only in the Lord.
What does it say?
A wife is committed to her husband as long as he lives. However, if she outlives him she is free to marry who she wishes that is another Christian.
What is its immediate context?
Paul is emphasizing the ‘higher calling’ of Christians, over and above whatever their calling in life might be. He just gave an example of a physical condition (circumcision), and here he gives an example of a role or station in life.
